Indian Education System – Do we need changes?

Poor Education System is always a big problem in India which arises much other bad issues in the country. Indian education system is facing its worst condition at the present time. An education system of a country is like a founding stone. If a country is not capable to provide the modern and developed education system to its citizen, then it lags behind in all the aspects of development. Without a proper education system, a country can not climb the stairs of progress. Educated people are the backbone of a country development. That is why developed countries around the world spend a large part of their GDP in health and education sector.

History of Indian Education System

The history of Indian Education system dates back to the ancient times when we used to follow the Gurukul system of education. In this system of education, students used to live with their teachers, until they acquire all the required knowledge to survive in the real world. All the subjects were taught in the Sanskrit language. This system of education had undergone a replacement due to the British rule in India.  They had set up many schools in the country and added new subjects like Mathematics, Science, and English in the curriculum of every standard.

Why we need to change the Education system In India

We are still following the old education system, which had settled by the British Government before the Independence. No sincere change has been seen since Independence. We have established IITs, IIM, Law colleges, and other technical education institutions. But a student with 90 percent marks is unable to get a college by his choice. The students study only to score well in exams and to crack competitive exams. The old education system was introduced to produce clerks and civil servants, but we have not moved much from this pattern even in this present time.

We have opened a crowd of schools and colleges to empower the education system in India. But this Idea is not going to solve the crisis of that India is facing right at the present time. In our country, students are spending their parent’s savings and borrowed money from these hungry education institutions. The worst part is they do not get an employment after completion of their study. In our country, these colleges produce millions of students to run a pointless rat race. These unrealistic education institutions are only destroying the creativity and talent of the students.

Skill Based Education Quote

The education system in India forces people to see a dream of financial development in life. If our education system is failing, then sometimes it is not the fault of the education. Rather, it is the fault of the market for which this education does not exist. Our good education is not getting a marketplace to develop the country. Let’s discuss the changes we need to make in the Indian education system.

Skill-Based Education

Our traditional Indian Education system works on the pattern of teaching and testing the knowledge instead of teaching the skills. Instead of feeding the words in the minds, we should focus on learning the practical skills necessary to live happily. So our education system should focus on skill-based education which is a useful way to use creativity and talent of students. If the skill-based education starts from the basic level, students can arrange fund for their further study on their own as well.

Replace the old and lengthy syllabus

All the schools, colleges, and universities are using the backdated and lengthy syllabus, which is not getting fit into the modern-day marketplace. This old syllabus scenario is not letting Indian students face the world-class organizations which are interested to work in India. Indian education ministry should look for effective research and development programs in schools and colleges’ curriculum. The syllabus should be relevant to the marketplace demands of India.

Parents’ Education

Parents’ education is the much-needed factor to reform the Education System of India. Most of the people in India are not educated enough to encourage their children to get the right education. Due to their illiteracy, they are not financially capable to educate their children. So we need to aware the parents about the importance of education. Various social organisations and government policies can play an important role in spreading the awareness among parents.

Establishing the Smart Class

Some private schools and colleges have established a smart class and library. But the government school and colleges are still not accessible to get the same infrastructure. The education with smart class and quality textbooks help to increase the creativity and innovation of the student’s mind. So to develop a student’s mind, it is necessary to introduce the smart class and library in all government and non-government educational institutions.

Rural Education Empowerment

A major part of the Indian population lives in the rural areas. The rural population of India is the vote bank for the political parties, who did not even bother to think about the education of people living there. Since they are the major part of the population, they should be encouraged to get the education. The Indian and state governments have to establish the modern schools and colleges there. Lack in rural education is the biggest crisis for the Indian education system.

A better career counseling

Every child has different talent and a creative mind. Some time students face difficulty to choose the right career for them. The school teachers should provide a right career counseling to the students. They should identify the skills and talent of every child in the class to suggest their parents the right career for their children. A good career counseling helps students to study according to their mind power.

Training of the Teachers

During the admission of the children, their capability and mind power are tested by the school authority. But if teachers are not capable to provide a good education to their students then what to do? So the regular training of the teachers should be carried out to provide students modern and world-class level education. The government should establish a diligent and honest school supervision committee to supervise the Indian education system.

Technology Infrastructure for Schools

Our country has to spread the Internet Technolgy around the remote areas. Because the major part of the population lives in the remote areas of the country. The Internet will become a source of education and information for people living in the remote areas. This is only possible when equipment like smartphones, tablets, laptops, computers and internet connection will be cheaper for them.

So, this was all about the loopholes in the Indian education system and the changes we need to make to improve the education system of our country. It is not just the responsibility of the government but also every citizen should work to change the education system of India on their own level.
